Why the Essential Support program?

In times of severe financial difficulty, we’ve witnessed many Muslims struggling to afford basic household items, food, and medication for themselves and their families. To address this need, NZF established the Essential Support program in 2013 for Muslim households across Australia. This initiative ensures they can access local services securely and have the flexibility to choose essentials that suit their personal needs.

Over the years, NZF has expanded from traditional food drives to a more comprehensive support system. By offering financial assistance or essentials vouchers through partnerships with small businesses and vendors, we help reduce waste, empower recipients to purchase preferred essentials, and provide a reliable income stream for participating local vendors across Australia.

Who is this program for?

The Essentials program is designed to assist Muslims in need across Australia who are experiencing financial difficulties and cannot afford daily essentials due to circumstances like unemployment, homelessness, or other critical expenses.

We are always looking to increase our network – so if you are a local store in Australia that provides general groceries, halal meat, pharmaceutical products or other essentials, please contact NZF via info@nzf.org.au or 1300 663 729 to sign up as a vendor.

Join us as a Vendor Service or Program Partner!

If you are an individual, company, business, service or organisation, you can become a Program Partner by financially supporting and funding our programs, either through the means of Zakat or Sadaqah.

You can also become a Service Partner by providing essential services in your local area as a vendor for items such as general groceries, halal meat, pharmaceutical products or other essential items within Australia.

The Rising Cost of Living Is Taking Its Toll

Every month, NZF receives an average of 240 Zakat applications from individuals and families struggling to keep up with the increasing cost of living. These include single parents, refugees, international students, and others experiencing sudden or ongoing hardship.

From rising rents, to expensive groceries, to skyrocketing utility bills, many are finding it harder than ever to meet their most basic needs.

In the past year alone, NZF has distributed over $2.5 million through our Essential Support Program to help ease this burden — that's more than $200,000 every month supporting those in urgent need.

Eligibility & Application process

If you need help with accessing essential items for yourself and your family, please send your application below.

The application and validation process is done by the NZF Team with confidentiality. Any information given will only be used to determine the best way we can help you.
