Living Paycheck to Paycheck

March 11, 2024

Umar, who works in a trade, works hard to provide for his family. In a one-income household, he started to find that he couldn’t keep up with living expenses as the cost of living was getting higher and higher. His wife takes care of their four children and cannot work due to her responsibilities.

Umar found that his work was slowing down, and his income was dropping, while the bills and expenses were piling up. The stress of 'what am I going to do' was taking Umar to a dark place, and he started worrying about their future.

Living paycheck to paycheck, Umar remembered hearing about the National Zakat Foundation. He decided to investigate, found us online, and after researching what NZF does, he applied for Zakat. After a Zakat assessment, we found that Umar and his family were Zakat eligible. He was assisted with the overdue bills, rent and groceries.

Your Zakat alleviated the financial challenges Umar was facing and enabled him to get back on track with his finances and stay ahead. Local Zakat in action plays a significant role in empowering our community and easing the burden individuals feel when going through hardships that are out of their control, especially during the rising cost of living.
