From Struggle to Hope

June 15, 2023

Tina, a 45-year-old sister who embraced Islam six months ago, has found herself in a challenging situation. She used to reside in an unsafe area plagued by drug users and dealers. She made a conscious effort to distance herself from those negative influences. After much searching, she managed to secure accommodation in a granny flat. However, the condition of the property is extremely poor, with major electrical issues rendering it uninhabitable.

In addition to the substandard living conditions, Tina has faced significant hurdles in finding alternative rental options. Her minimal income from the Job Seeker program has resulted in repeated rejections from prospective landlords. Frustrated and overwhelmed, Tina expressed her emotional distress during our assessment, voicing her struggle to do what is right and needing to find safe accommodation.

Meanwhile, the National Zakat Foundation is actively working to provide Tina with long-term accommodation. Our team is committed to assisting Tina throughout this process, ensuring her safety and well-being as we seek a suitable living arrangement for her.
