Qurban/Udhiyah
Qurban Distribution To Our Local Community
"The Prophet (SAW) would keep one third of the udhiyah for his family, distribute another third among his poor neighbours, and keep the remaining third to distribute among those who come to beg him for food." Ibn Abbas (RA)
NZF Australia is once again bringing Qurban distribution to our local community. This year, we’ve expanded to include two additional states for collection points, Alhamdulillah. Your sacrifice will help support Australian families doing it tough this Eid.
Cost for a Qurban
A Qurban costs $290 per sheep. This includes all processing and distribution of the meat.
When booking, you may reserve one or two portions to collect for your family. Collection is only available in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, and Perth.
Please note: Each state has limited allocations available. Collections will remain open until allocations are exhausted or capacity is reached.
However, Qurban orders are open to everyone in Australia.
Collection Options
If you are in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, or Perth, we recommend collecting a portion of your Qurban in accordance with the Sunnah. You may choose to receive one or two portions from each Qurban you have ordered. If you prefer for your entire Qurban to be distributed to those in need, this will be arranged on your behalf.
Collection locations:
⭐ Melbourne – Brunswick
⭐ Sydney – Lakemba
⭐ Brisbane– Underwood
⭐ Perth – Langford
📌 Important Information: Please read before placing your order.
⭐ By purchasing Qurban through NZF, you authorise NZF to carry out and distribute the Qurban on your behalf.
⭐ The Qurban will be performed in accordance with ANIC approved dates for 2026.
⭐ The total cost of $290 includes the animal, slaughter, preparation, distribution, and administration fees.
⭐ Once Dhul Hijjah is announced, NZF will email and/or SMS you the address of the collection points in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Perth. There will be a specified period during which you can collect your Qurban upon presenting your NZF receipt.
FAQs
Udhiyah refers to an animal from the an’aam category (such as a camel, cow, sheep, or goat) that is sacrificed during the days of Eid al-Adha. It is a confirmed Sunnah (Sunnah Mu’akkadah ) of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him)
The term “Udhiyah” is more precise according to fiqh principles because it specifically refers to the sacrifice performed during Eid al-Adha, whereas “Qurban” is a broader term that can refer to a sacrifice done at any time.
This year 2026, the cost of the Udhiyah / Qurban is $290 per sheep (includes processing and local distribution of the meat).
Udhiyah (often referred as Qurban) must be done after the Eid prayer on the 10th of Dhul-Hijjah until Asr on the 13th. If done by yourself, it must be within this time. If delegated, you can pay early, but the sacrifice must still occur within these days."
Awaiting the ANIC announcement, Eid is expected to fall on 27 May. It is recommended to follow the majority view within your local community to help maintain unity.
Udhiyah (Qurbani) is a way to thank Allah for the gift of life, to revive the legacy of Prophet Ibrahim (SAW), and to practice the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (SAW). It reminds believers of obedience, patience, and placing Allah’s love above personal desires."
No, it is not compulsory to perform Qurbani yourself. You can delegate someone or an organisation to do it on your behalf.
Yes, offering multiple Qurbanis is allowed and was practiced by the Prophet ﷺ, who sacrificed for himself and his Ummah. Qurbani can also be given as Sadaqah on behalf of oneself or family.
If you are in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane or Perth we recommend collecting a portion of your Qurban. You may choose to receive one or two portions of each Qurban you order. Once Dhul Hijjah is announced, we will email and/or SMS you the collection point address in the states we have available. You will need to present your NZF e-receipt to collect your portion during the specified collection period.
Although it is preferable to divide the Udhiyah meat into three parts, one for yourself, one for family and friends, and one for the needy, you may give all or most of it as charity, as there are no strict restrictions.
Qurban purchases are open to everyone across Australia, but collection and distribution is limited to Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Perth this year due to logistics. We'll let you know exact collection addresses later on.
