When Your Faith Is Tested

February 28, 2024

Justin's world completely changed when he embraced Islam 6 months ago. Still in high school his parents discovered his newfound faith. Their reaction was swift and ruthless – they kicked him out, leaving Justin with nothing but $200 he had saved up and a bag he hastily packed with essentials. Justin left and sought refuge at his nearest mosque.

The local community, kind-hearted and compassionate, rallied around him, offering what support they could. Grateful but still struggling, Justin found shared accommodation. Yet, his high school commitments left him without a stable income to cover living expenses.

When a local Imam recognised the struggles Justin was going through he referred him to NZF. Through a Zakat assessment, Justin's eligibility for ongoing assistance became clear. Despite the trials, Justin remained steadfast in his faith, with his honesty, humility, and confidence in reaching out to our community, guiding him through the challenges he was facing.

This highlights the transformative power of local Zakat in action in protecting new Muslims and treating them with compassion.

If you or someone you know faces similar challenges, unsure of Zakat eligibility, please contact us at NZF.
