Sadaf, a middle-aged mother of six, is an Australian citizen. After marrying her husband, he took her overseas, where her abuse began. He confiscated her passport, and for several years, she endured domestic violence. Secretly, she applied for residency in Australia for one of her children, ultimately leading to her escape. Reporting her husband to the relevant authorities, and with the legalities settled, Sadaf returned to Australia after a couple of years.

Her return, however, brought a new set of challenges. Homeless and with no income, Sadaf sought refuge in temporary accommodations provided by various people and a kind stranger she met at a shopping centre. Desperate for stability, she secured a rental property through a compassionate real estate agent.

Despite the prospect of a new home, Sadaf faced a financial hurdle, required to pay bond and rent immediately. With her income set to arrive in a few days from Centrelink, Sadaf turned to NZF for assistance.
