Fidyah
Feed a poor person for each missed Ramadan fast day.
Fidyah for those who are unable to Fast!
If you miss an obligatory fast due to a chronic illness, underlying medical condition, or old age, you can make it up in the form of Fidyah by feeding a poor person for every fast that you were unable to complete.
It is recommended to give Fidyah as soon as you have missed fasting. In the case of chronic illness or old age, if you know ahead of time that you will be missing fasting next year, you can even give Fidyah ahead of time. The key is to feed the poor who will be fasting during Ramadan. We have also seen some people may miss paying Fidyah for a few years. If you are financially able, you can then calculate how many days, it is for each year and then estimate how much to pay using our Fidyah calculator. If you missed giving Fidyah this year, some scholars say to give Fidyah before next Ramadan. So, if you know you missed fasting last year and have not paid Fidyah, you can donate here.
