Local Qurban for Local Needs

And the camels and cattle We have appointed for you as among the symbols [i.e., rites] of Allāh; for you therein is good. So mention the name of Allāh upon them when lined up [for sacrifice]; and when they are [lifeless] on their sides, then eat from them and feed the needy [who does not seek aid] and the beggar. Thus have We subjected them to you that you may be grateful. Their meat will not reach Allāh, nor will their blood, but what reaches Him is piety from you. Thus have We subjected them to you that you may glorify Allāh for that [to] which He has guided you; and give good tidings to the doers of good. (Surah Al Hajj, verse 36-37)

What is the Local Qurban for Local Needs project?

The aim of this program is to bring the practical aspect of Qurban distribution into the local community here in Australia. As per the Sunnah, we encourage donors to take a share of the Qurban to enjoy with friends & family, while at the same time benefiting the local needy right here in our community.

Last year, with your Qurban, we were able to assist 688 families, impacting 2319 community members across Sydney and Melbourne, and each family received between 3kg to 6kg of meat. Insha Allah, this year, we are looking to assist a similar number of needy families. With the cost of living crisis we are experiencing right now, every little bit of assistance is needed.

The cost for a sheep is $220 per sheep (includes costs of processing and distribution of the meat).

Your can also take a share from your Qurban in the form a whole leg per sheep. We recommend that you do take a share for yourself. If you would like to reserve a share for yourself, please indicate this preference when you book your Qurban. Collection options are only available in Melbourne & Sydney at this stage. However, Qurban orders are open to people living anywhere in Australia.

Collecting your portion of Qurban

We recommend that you collect your portion of the Qurban, if you are in Melbourne or Sydney. You will receive one leg for each Qurban that you have ordered. Once Dhul Hijjah is announced, we will email you details to collect your share from one of our partner butchers in Melbourne & Sydney. There will be a specified period during which you can collect your Qurban upon presenting your NZF receipt.
